About Dr. Solomon

A Board Certified and Fellowship-trained orthopedic sports medicine and shoulder specialist, Dr. Solomon has served in several notable civilian and military capacities: Director of Orthopaedic Sports Medicine and Shoulder Service for the Naval Medical Center San Diego; Commander, U.S. Navy; Orthopedics consultant for the US Navy SEAL teams; Assistant Clinical Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of California, San Diego; Adjunct Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences; Department Head of Orthopedic Surgery at the US Naval Hospital in Yokosuka, Japan; and US Navy Flight Surgeon at the Marine Corps Air Station in Tustin, California and Okinawa, Japan.

He has published numerous book and review chapters, and he serves on the editorial board for The Journal of Arthroscopy. Dr. Solomon has presented extensively both nationally and internationally on topics such as shoulder arthritis, trauma, and instability, rotator cuff repair, navigated knee stability, knee ligament reconstruction, and battlefield and operational orthopedic surgery. His involvement with the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons includes service as the Communications Chair for the Board of Specialty Societies and on the AAOS Communications Council. He also chaired the publications committee and served on the Board of Directors of the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine.

Dr. Solomon has received several academic and military honors, awards, and grants throughout his career, serves as a team physician for USA Swimming, and is a member of their High Performance Medical Network. He travels and consults extensively with the US Olympic, World Championship and National Teams.

After receiving his Medical Degree from the Chicago Medical School, Dr. Solomon completed his surgery internship and orthopedic surgery residency at the Naval Medical Center San Diego and a fellowship in Sports Medicine and Shoulder Surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, New York. He completed his Bachelor of Arts in physiology from the University of California at Berkeley.

A native of Marin County, Dr. Solomon is a founding partner of Future Medical Group as well as a partner at Marin Orthopedics and Sports Medicine. He is active in the sports community and enjoys helping athletes of all ages. As a sports medicine and shoulder surgery specialist, he sees the difficult challenges patients face when weighing the options of prolonged recovery or a joint replacement.
